Boar Bristles, falling short
I have used boar bristle brushes for 40 years.In my opinion and as a rule, they don’t stop static or stimulate the scalp. Boar bristles were not meant to pierce through your hair.Though I had some that did reach my scalp but more on that later. I buy boar bristle because they don’t damage the hair like a nylon bristle will when you have tangles. If you want to be gentle with your hair and not break or pull it out excessively, boar bristle is what you want.My hair has been long for many years. I separate it into sections to brush and remove tangles.I was looking for a replacement for 2 Goody brushes I trashed. I had them over 10 years and they had lost a lot of bristles around the edges so I figured it was time for new ones.Big Mistake.Those brushes though worn, were 1 and 3/4″ long. Those DID reach my scalp because the bristles were long enough to go through my hair.The bristles in this brush are just a tad over 1/2″. It is fairly soft also but my main concern is the bristle length. I am sure this is being done to save a few pennies on each brush.The handle has also lost some of its ergonomic shape. My old one did not sit flat and the bristles also splayed out more which helped go through the sections of hair.The bristles are not falling out, just falling short.If they call this their Heritage line, they should change it back to how it was originally.

My favorite hairbrush
Light weight, comfortable in my hand, bristles just stiff enough, close enough together to give a good brushing. This is the third time I’ve purchased this brush over the past several years. Bought it here this time when I couldn’t find anything as good in local stores.

Love this brush. I have had one for years to smooth out my pony tails and bring hair tight to the scalp for a clean smooth look. Now I use it for my daughter hair. We lost our brush and I went out to find another reasonable priced boar hair brush. No such thing. All the boar hair brushes were $30+. This was in my price range. And I am very familiar with it. Goody is hard to find anymore in my area. Have never looked into it. But love the this particular brush.
