Since the pandemic I have been cutting my husband’s hair. Over time I’ve acquired several items that aid in making it easier and more comfortable for both of us. I’ve considered purchasing a brush for a while now, but it hasn’t been high on my priority list. Heck, smacking him around the face and neck is a good outlet! Just kidding! I have been using a shaving brush that he doesn’t use because it’s too soft. When I found this brush, I decided to add a new tool to my arsenal. Never having used an actual barber brush I assumed the shaving brush was pretty much the same thing. Well, I was wrong. This brush is nice and plush and is much fuller than what I was using. The handle is a nice size to hold and when I brush his neck and/or face it has a nice swing so that it takes little to no effort to brush and is much more effective in dusting away hair from around his face and neck. The wood and bristles seem to be good quality. It does kind of smell funny, and I hope that goes away. It isn’t terrible but it isn’t great. The bristles are synthetic and do create a certain amount of static which is kind of annoying but hasn’t been a real issue. I just keep a can of static guard handy. I can’t compare this brush with others since I’m not a professional and I’ve never had one before, but I can say that it does a great job.

I have to admit I’m not a barber, and don’t anticipate using this much to sweep off clippings from home haircuts.I ordered this because I like traditional wet shaving and thought I could find a use for it. Though it looks like an oversized shaving brush, it is definitely not and couldn’t function as one. The bristles are too soft to whip up shaving soap into a lather, and the thing is too big for a human face.Still, there is a lot to say for it. The bristles give you an almost supernatural experience of softness. It’s worth it just for that! And yes, if ever I have to brush hair or anything else off of myself, this will be my go to. Maybe useful for applying talc? It just feels wonderful. The bristles are dense but yielding, and stand up straight without being stiff in any way.I thought of using it to brush dust off of vinyl records, but it’s not quite sized for that. It’s just a beautiful body brush. It looks good, with the wood handle. The manufacturer’s ad copy doesn’t quite come out and say directly what the bristles are made of, but they have to be synthetic. Which is fine: I believe neck brushes are traditionally made of horse hair, but these bristles are so much softer.I would gift this to my barber if I didn’t like the feel of it across my skin so much.

I’ve been cutting my own hair for many years, but I’ve been missing something. This is that thing. When I’m done cutting my hair, invariably I’m covered with little hairs that just won’t wipe off. The only thing that works is one of these barber brushes, and I absolutely LOVE this one.The box it comes in is nice, and I’ll store it in that in between haircuts. I really appreciate that the box came with special tamper-proof seals at each end, so you know the product is new and unused. Nice touch.It’s got a very wide base that stands on it’s own, and it’s easy to handle for people like me with large mitts. The handle is rugged and weighty, and it’s never gonna break. I wish the branding was on the bottom instead of the side, but it’s not a big deal.I didn’t do the ‘pinch test’ to try to pull out any bristles, but they’re weighty and I didn’t lose any during some testing.Not sure exactly what kind of bristles they are, but they’re perfect for the job. Maybe Bigfoot hair? I do wish they’d tell us, but maybe some things are best left unsaid. I wouldn’t mind Bigfoot hair in general, but there are some parts I wouldn’t want dusting my face.In any case, you’re gonna love this brush. Hope this helps.
