Children’s skiing
For the Strasser family, skiing was more than a simple hobby; Linus was already on skis at the age of two. His love for winter sports was put in his cradle by his father Georg Eisenhut, an enthusiastic skier. His mother Sonja was still standing next to him. Each weekend, they drove from Munich to Kitzbühel so that their son can grow up in the ideal environment.
It was obvious that sport was very important for the young Linus. A story that was counted during the generations concerns the Little Linus, which would have awakened seven in the morning, has packaged its ski equipment and was held near his parents. This unlimited enthusiasm was the first sign that the talented boy had what it takes to become a legendary athlete.
The path to professional sports begins in Kitzbühel and ends in Munich.
He started his ski career at the age of six at the famous Kitzbüheler Ski clubBut the transition to TSV 1860 Munich in 2001, at the age of nine, was a turning point. He wanted to acquire a race license in Germany and find the best way for strategic reasons to bring school and sport under one roof. An important factor in this decision was the position of his father as a sports director of “ski lions”.
Here, Strasser’s paths crossed Ivan Hainy, a Czech coach who had previously worked with Olympications such as Marina Kiehl and Miriam Vogt. Under his direction, Linus has become a serious talent. He challenged his first FIS race at the age of 18 and the following year, he won the title of junior slalom in Germany. After his debut in the World Cup in 2013, he finally won the tournament five years later.
Are among the most successful people in the world – and the role of parents in the background
Despite the numerous obstacles with which Strasser was faced with his career, his parents were by his side with each step. In difficult times, when setbacks such as unsatisfactory injuries or results brought him to the ground, they were his rock in surfing. Thanks to the unshakable faith of him, he won a slalom in Zagreb in 2021 and strengthened his position at the top of the world.
The victory of the famous night slalom at Schladming in 2022 was the next great success. However, his triumph in Kitzbühel in 2024 and subsequent immortalization on a hohnenkamm gondola were the crowned moments. Something that meant a lot for him and his loved ones at the same time.
Private life: finding the balance between family and sport
If he does not participate in the races, Strasser enjoys a fulfilling private life. Maria Haumerrer, who was also a ski runner, has been her girlfriend for over ten years. Her daughter was born in December 2022, the same year they got married.
The irony that Linus is still faithful to TSV 1860 Munich, while Maria is now working for FC Bayern Munich, is humorous. He smiles and said, “Of course, when he was asked if his wife had converted him to the Bayern fan.
An inspiration for today and the youth of tomorrow
In addition to his achievements on the slopes, Strasser serves as inspiration today and tomorrow. As part of the German customs sports program, it regularly helps promising young athletes. His life is an example of the fact that performance is not a coincidence, but the result of conscious planning, courageous action and unwavering love and support for loved ones.
During the Ski 2025 World Cup in Saalbach, he won bronze and strengthened his exceptional position. Without the enthusiasm and unshakable dedication of his parents, Linus Strasser would not be where he is today. This is shown by the fact that he continues to master the world’s slalom roads.
